Arrest 'threatens' Ivory Coast talks

The former Ivory Coast military ruler, General Robert Guei, has said he may boycott current peace talks because of the arrest of a close aide.

General Guei told the French news agency that the detention of his aide, Captain Fabien Coulibaly, was unwarranted and unfair.

The authorities arrested Capitain Coulibaly and six other people on Tuesday.

General Guei's comments come two days after the return to Ivory Coast of the man he overthrew in a coup in 1999, Henri Konan Bedie.

His arrival was seen a boost to the peace talks - officially called National Reconciliation Conference.
