Police seek 'floppy hat' robber
The man has stolen thousands of pounds
Detectives are appealing for help in catching an armed robber who wears a distinctive floppy hat during raids on banks and building societies.

The robber has struck at banks and building societies in Dudley, Bloxwich, Cradley Heath, Bilston, Blackheath, all West Midlands, and in Wellington, Shropshire.

West Midlands police officers say they believe someone would recognise an e-fit of the offender, and a video still, filmed during his last raid.

He has escaped with thousands of pounds after threatening cashiers with a black handgun.

E-fit of the robber
Witnesses described him as a light-skinned black man.

He is thought to be about 6ft 1ins, has a West Midlands accent and wears a distinctive dark-coloured cricket-style hat.

The first of the six raids took place in Bloxwich on 26 July and the latest robbery was committed in Dudley on 10 October.

A police spokesman said: "We are determined to catch this man."

He urged anyone who recognises the man to contact detectives at Dudley on 0121 626 9211
