Man arrested over Leanne's murder
Leanne Tiernan
Leanne Tiernan vanished after a shopping trip
Police investigating the murder of 16-year-old Leanne Tiernan have arrested a 45-year-old man.

Leanne, from Bramley in Leeds, was reported missing in November 2000 after a Christmas shopping trip.

She was last seen on Sunday 26 November, when she left her friend Sarah Whitehouse in Bramley on their way home from Leeds.

Leanne's body was found in Otley in North Yorkshire on 20 August this year.

The discovery was made in woodland by a man walking his dog.

A spokeswoman for West Yorkshire Police said the man who has been arrested is from the Bramley area.

He is being questioned at a police station in Leeds - officers are also believed to be searching a house.

Since the discovery of Leanne's body, police have made a number of appeals including asking for help in tracing her missing coat and boots.
