Jobs hope for Dundee firm
Manufacturing worker
The firm was formed three years ago after a buy-out
A Scottish company is aiming to defy the global economic downturn with an ambitious plan to more than double its workforce.

Texol Technical Solutions, which is based in Dundee, has said it intends to create 250 jobs in five years.

The firm also said it was hopeful of increasing its forecast turnover of £12 million in 2001 to £50 million, by 2006.

The engineering company has 220 employees, more than half of whom are shareholders.

We are expecting growth in all sectors at the moment, so we know the opportunities are out there

Chairman

Its customers are from a range of sectors including electronics, food processing, power generation, oil and gas, automotive and telecommunications.

The firm was formed three years ago through an employee buy-out of the parts manufacturing department of cash machine makers NCR, and all but one of the 85 original employees remain.

Chairman Ken Ingram said the expansion plans included growing the existing business while buying other companies.

He said: "This is a major strategic change of gear for us.

"Having established a track record for focussed and sustained growth since the company was founded, we are now ready to accelerate the trend on to the international stage.

"We are expecting growth in all sectors at the moment, so we know the opportunities are out there.

"Steady organic growth and investment will position us to seize those opportunities and the acquisitions programme will pick up complementary skills and open up new market sectors for us."
