Oasis tickets mark anniversary
Tickets for Oasis' tour are to go on sale exactly 10 years after their first ever gig.
The band will play three UK cities on the tour - taking in Manchester, London and Glasgow. Tickets go on sale on for the October dates on 18 August. The band's first show was at Manchester's Boardwalk on August 18 1991, and since then they have played 465 shows around the world.
Blackwood hosts new celebrity show Richard Blackwood is to front a new show interviewing celebrities as part of Sky One's new line up. Entitled I Slept with Richard Blackwood, the star is hoping to line up guests such as Jennifer Lopez and Britney Spears for the "Ruby Wax parody". Other programmes in the new line up include a UK version of the steamy Temptation Island and The Real Sex in the City, which explores whether women really live like the characters on the hit show. Former Home and Away star Dieter Brummer star in new drama Crash Palace, looking at the lives of a group of backpackers in an Australian hostel.
McGregor condemns Hollywood Actor Ewan McGregor has told the Mail on Sunday's You magazine that he would not consider moving his family to Hollywood. McGregor, who has a daughter with his wife Eve, said: "I might like working there, but I'd never live there." He accused the Hollywood studio system of putting actors on to A, B and C lists, according to how much money each person can make for a studio. McGregor, who stars alongside Nicole Kidman in the film Moulin Rouge, also told the magazine that a rumour of his romantic involvement with the Australian actress was a "lie."
Bergman elected AMPAS president Composer Alan Bergman has been elected president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Academy Foundation. The foundation is the educational and cultural arm of the group that organises the Oscars. Bergman has collected three Oscars for his work on Yentl, The Way We Were and the original Thomas Crown Affair. Bergman previously ran the foundation from 1992 to 1995 and takes over from producer Sid Ganis who has been at the helm for the past three years.
Fitness instructor wins MTV role A 25-year-old fitness instructor has won a nationwide talent search to find a new presenter for music channel MTV. Lynsey France, from Toxteth, Liverpool, beat off competition from almost 6,000 young women who auditioned for the talent search called Is She MTV? Lynsey said she was "stunned" at being chosen. She said she hoped to interview pop icon Robbie Williams. "I'll ask him if he's got a girlfriend," she joked. MTV presenter Richard Blackwood revealed the winner live on television yesterday and will now team up with Lynsey for a new programme called MTV On Call.
Italian films wins "Golden Leopard" The film "Alla Rivoluzione sulla due cavalli" (Towards the revolution in a 2CV) by Italian director Maurizio Scerra was awarded the top "Golden Leopard" award at the 54th Locarno international film festival on Sunday. The jury's special prize went to "Delabaran" by Iranian director Abolfazl Jalili. For the first time, the festival was headed by a woman, Irene Bignardi, a prominent film critic from Rome and a former Venice film festival organiser. She said this year's event in Locarno would try to promote "innovative, young and sometimes 'risque'" cinema.
Shanghai Noon wins best of the West The Jackie Chan/Owen Wilson film Shanghai Noon won the top prize at the Motion Picture and Television Fund's 19th annual Golden Boot Awards ceremony on Saturday. The picture beat All the Pretty Horses and South of Heaven, West of Hell for the best of the West award. John Clark Gable accepted the Centennial Award in honour of the anniversary of his late father Clark Gable's 100th birthday. Golden Boot awards were presented to Alex Cord, Barbara Hale, Loren Janes, Chuck Norris, Andrew Prine and Eli Wallach for furthering the tradition of the Western in film and TV.
