Bus crash in Zambia

Police in Zambia have detained the driver of a bus which plunged into a ditch and killed 33 of its passengers.

A police spokesman Lemmy Kajoba said the driver was helping with investigations.

The bus was travelling from Malawi to the Zambian capital Lusaka when it crashed in the Zambian town of Luangwa about 150 km north of Lusaka.

At least 40 people were seriously injured.

Police are still trying to retrieve some of the bodies from the wreckage.
