Berlin is a city of protests and bitter memories on the 40th anniversary of the building of its most famous wall.
 Many protested against East Germany's former Communist Party, the PDS
 Others preferred solitude and silent reflection
 Chancellor Schroeder has given the green light for his SPD party to form a coalition with the PDS in Berlin
 This man was arrested for tearing up a wreath laid by the PDS
 Peter Fechter was one of about 250 people killed trying to cross the wall
 Only small sections of the wall remain today
