| One of China's most senior Tibetan officials this week announced extra funding for the region in the coming five years. The Chinese government has not allowed the BBC in to Tibet for over four years, but one of our correspondents, Rupert Wingfield-Hayes has been allowed to visit the neighbouring province of Qinghai, an area once largely populated by Tibetans. Like Tibet, this province has received huge amounts of government money for economic development -- but the spending has done little to reduce tensions. |
