Queen Mother's active holiday continues
The Queen Mother
The Queen Mother attended a 40 minute church service
The Queen Mother has attended church as she continues her traditional holiday in the far north of Scotland.

The 101-year-old smiled and chatted to well-wishers who gave her flowers and cards as she left the church on Sunday.

Dozens of people were gathered outside the small church at Canisbay to see her walk unaided from the church to a waiting Range Rover after the 40-minute service.

The Queen Mother, who was hospitalised less than two weeks ago, is spending the first part of her holiday at the Castle of Mey, near the town of John O'Groats, in Caithness.

She will then join other members of the Royal family for their annual holiday at Balmoral Castle.

It is thought unlikely that the Queen Mother will be seen in public again in the coming week because her Scottish holiday is traditionally a largely private affair.

The Queen Mother was taken to hospital in London for one night 11 days ago and had a blood transfusion to treat anaemia.

However, she recovered in time to celebrate her 101st birthday a week ago.

On Saturday she braved driving rain and strong winds to visit Highland Games.

The Queen Mother has been visiting the northern coast of Caithness since 1952.
