Cardiff's Millennium stadium - spot Eddie Mair
There seems to have been a sudden outburst of anger from the Welsh at the English.

Before we went to Cardiff we were just sorting through all the recent quotes when another leading figure gave vent to his feelings - the chairman of the executive committee of the Eisteddfod, Eifion Lloyd Jones, called for Welsh schools to beware of the dangers of having an open-door policy towards pupils who don't speak the language.

His words follow those of Gwilym Ab Ioan (of Plaid Cymru), who said English immigrants were oddballs, social misfits and society dropouts.

And HIS followed comments by councillor Simon Glyn, who said English pensioners moving here were 'a drain on resources.'

And there's more where that came from - it does all strike a rasping note when Wales is trying to attract world interest with this week's Welsh open golf championship, Sunday's Charity Shield, the Brecon jazz festival and the Eisteddfod itself.

To tap into this wealth of Welsh culture, Broadcasing House's Dan Damon travelled to the Eisteddfod in Denbigh, in north Wales, as the nation's annual celebration of culture drew to a close.
