Divers rescued off coast
RNLI lifeboat
An off-duty lifeboat responded to the distress calls
Two divers are recovering after being rescued from rough seas off the north Wales coast.

The men were spotted in the water by a lifeboat crew which had been attending a regatta.

The RNLI boat from Holyhead lifeboat station had been offshore in Trearddur Bay, Anglesey, when the men were heard shouting for assistance.

The divers who are in their 30s or 40s from Greater Manchester, were rescued within minutes.

Suddenly, these two divers surfaced at the side of the boat and shouted for assistance

Neither was hurt or required immediate treatment and both men were taken ashore by the Trearddur Bay inshore lifeboat.

The men had been diving out of view among the rocks and a Holyhead lifeboat crew spokesman said the men had been lucky to have been spotted.

"We were anchored in front of the Treaddur Bay Lifeboat Station. We were there for a regatta.

"Suddenly, these two divers surfaced at the side of the boat and shouted for assistance.

"It is just so lucky that the lifeboat was sitting there.

"Weather conditions were really quite bad with winds of force five to six and a two metre swell."
