US warning over Indonesia travel

The State Department in Washington has issued a new warning to American citizens about the risks of travelling in Indonesia.

A statement said information had been received indicating that extremists might target American interests in Indonesia.

It said the targets could extend to tourists and tour groups.

Those already in the country have been advised to keep a low profile, to vary their travel arrangements, and to be wary of any mail or packages they receive.

American aid workers on non-essential projects have been ordered to go to Singapore.
