Caste out

The international conference on racism which is due to open in the South African city of Durban later this month is beset with disagreements. The United States -- angered by Arab demands that Zionism be included in any communique condemning racism -- is threatening to boycott the conference. In India, the government is refusing to allow the issue of caste discrimination to be discussed. But it is to be discussed by a conference being organised by campaign groups being held on Saturday.
