Shiv Sena to continue supporting coalition
A key member of India's governing coalition, the Hindu nationalist Shiv Sena party, says it has decided to continue supporting the government despite differences over allegations of fraud involving the country's biggest mutual fund.
A Shiv Sena spokesman said the party had withdrawn its boycott of parliament and all MPs would be attending proceedings on Monday. Correspondents say the move puts an end to speculation that Shiv Sena was ready to quit the coalition. The row began when a Shiv Sena MP accused the prime minister's office of being involved in the massive losses incurred by the Unit Trust of India. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
