The Parole Officer: Your views
Steve Coogan in The Parole Officer
Is this the start of a dazzling film career?
Steve Coogan has been a huge success on TV with characters such as Alan Partridge and Paul Calf.

Now he is appearing in his first major film role, The Parole Officer, which he has written with creative partner Henry Normal.

Coogan takes the lead as the hapless parole officer, Simon Garden, who seems to attract trouble at every corner.

"The script and plot are often unoriginal and, anyone who knows The Italian Job will get a distinct sense of deją vu," wrote BBC News Online's Rebecca Thomas.

"But its weaknesses can be forgiven with Coogan's comedic exellence there to hold everything together and save the day," she added.

But what do you think?

Can Coogan make it on the big screen? Or are you still mourning the absence of Alan Partridge? Is old-fashioned slapstick still funny?
