Farmer Tony Martin is serving life
The burglar shot and wounded by Norfolk farmer Tony Martin has been freed from prison after completing his sentence.

Brendan Fearon, 30, was jailed for three years for his part in the burglary at Martin's farm in August 1999.

Martin was jailed for life after being convicted of unlawfully wounding Fearon and for shooting dead his accomplice Fred Barras, age 16.

Martin, was also given a 10-year sentence for wounding Fearon, but was cleared of attempting to murder him at his home, Bleak Farm in Emneth.

Fearon, from Newark, Nottinghamshire, is believed to have served 18 months of his three-year sentence.

He was released following a parole board hearing.

Martin opened fire on Barras and Fearon when they entered his remote farmhouse on 20 August, 1999.

He claimed he shot the pair in self defence, but was convicted on both counts with a majority verdict.

The jury head how Barras was shot in the back and Fearon in the groin as they tried to escape.
