Would you go under the knife?
British women are so unhappy with their
bodies that two-thirds of them are willing to have plastic surgery, according to a new survey.
Researchers for the health and beauty magazine, Top Sante, questioned three thousand women about their shape and size, and the effect it has on their lives. Julliette Kellow, editor of Top Sante, said: "British women are obsessed with their bodies, and it is spoiling their lives. According to the survey, women most hated their hips and thighs, bottom, waist, legs and arms. Would you have plastic surgery? Are women too obsessed with their bodies? What about men? Are you happy with your bodies? This Talking Point has now closed. Read a selection of your comments below.

If you're not actually disfigured you would have to be a moron to want to have plastic surgery!
Mind you we live in a country where Big Brother is front-page news so I don't know why I'm surprised.
I don't find it surprising that so many women are obsessed with their bodies, we've all known that for a long time. But I am amazed that so many women in the survey thought that their sex lives would improve as a result. Are they all lesbians? Women really have to understand that their obsession with being thin is for their own satisfaction, and does not make them attractive to men. In common with most men, I think that Dawn French is infinitely sexier than Ally McBeal.
A woman's body is a very strong weapon in the world - no wonder that women do everything to make it perfect.
Kirsty, UK Just a bit of luck that I fit into the category of:
Brad Pitt's face
Sigh..
My ears stick out and my nose is rather large. But guess what, I'm happy with the way I look. Why? Because feeling good about yourself is who you are inside not about what you look like.
I feel sorry for women as they have all this rubbish thrown at them every month from every one of those lifestyle magazines. I guess it must really raise their expectations of what they will get out of life. Personally, I think they should stop reading them and stop worrying that their hips are a inch or two too big or whatever.
Get out there and do something positive with that time instead. That's the way to really feeling good about yourself, give a little to others. Even something trivial as seeing someone smile because you've held the door open for them. It makes you feel good.

As a child, I had one ear sticking out. It looked odd and I was getting a lot of aggravation from my peers because of it. When I was 16, my mother bullied me into getting it "fixed" in spite of me being terrified of surgery. It was worth it.
Cosmetic surgery is usually done under general anaesthetic, and this always carries a risk of death. I think it would be safer to go to the gym.
Taking a look round the office, I'd say
most women need plastic surgery - at
least compared to Hollywood stars. Mind
you, I'm no oil painting either...

British women are just a bunch of moaners, they complain about anything and everything. If they're not complaining about their jobs, their partner, the size of their breasts or the shape of their nose, then they're not happy. They should just get on with their lives and accept things for what or who they are. Then perhaps they may start to enjoy life.
When will we realise that it isn't how we look that makes us happy, or unhappy. Dawn French is rated as having the worst body yet she is one of the most cheerful and outgoing people you could want to meet.
I think it's time we threw out the outdated ideas of the "perfect body" and instead focussed on the "perfect personality".
Steve J, England
I wish I had time to worry about the shape of my body! If these moaning women stopped complaining and took up a few hobbies or sports instead they might be too preoccupied to worry about their weight with the added bonus that the exercise might solve the problem at the same time.
Wouldn't it be boring if we all looked
like identikit Barbie dolls with perfect
figures? Celebrate your imperfections,
ladies! They're what make you unique.
Thank heavens that medicine can now improve women's bodies.
Now if we only had neurosurgeons that could alter their personalities.
