| According to figures released by the National Criminal Intelligence Service up to 40 tons of cocaine and up to 30 tons of heroin were smuggled into the UK in 2000. The intelligence service estimates that the smuggling is carried out by over 800 gangs whose business could be worth over £8bn. The BBC's Stephen Cape reports. |
