Appeal after girl is gang raped
West Midlands Police headquarters
West Midlands Police are appealing for witnesses
A 13-year-old girl has been raped by a group of youths in Birmingham.

The girl was walking in the Sparkbrook area of the city when she was approached from behind by the group.

Police say she was dragged across the road and raped near the entrance to Nelson Mandela Junior and Infant School in Colville Road.

The attack happened just after 2130BST on Tuesday evening.

The details have just been released.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said more than one of the youths raped the girl.

The youths ran off when they were disturbed by an approaching vehicle.

The police spokesman described the attack as "very nasty" and said the girl was very distressed.

West Midlands Police are now appealing for witnesses and anyone with any information to come forward.
