Two die in 'wrong way' accident
Blue light
The woman drove on the wrong side of the road
An elderly woman has died in a collision after driving her car along the wrong carriageway.

Another driver was also killed in the accident on the A90, near Perth.

The pensioner, who has not been named, was driving north on the southbound carriageway of the A90 road between Dundee and Perth near Friarton Bridge, when her Vauxhall Astra was in collision with two other vehicles.

It appears that the elderly driver was travelling the wrong way before this incident occurred.

Tayside Police spokeswoman
The woman driver of an oncoming Kia Pride, who has not yet been named, was also killed in the accident, which occurred at 0830BST.

Two men who were travelling in a Ford Transit van were hurt.

They have been transferred to Perth Royal Infirmary for treatment to minor injuries.

The women, from Perthshire, were both pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokeswoman for Tayside Police said: "It appears that the elderly driver was travelling the wrong way before this incident occurred."

She said one lane of the dual carriageway between Kinfauns Castle and Friarton Bridge remained closed.

The spokeswoman added: "There is quite a lot of damage at the scene and accident investigators are expected to be there for some time."

She said the victims' relatives were being informed.
