How safe are our skies? Simon Montague quizzed

This weekend is set to be the busiest of the year for the UK's airports, with an estimated 1.5m holidaymakers due to jet off abroad. Heathrow airport alone expects 650,000 passengers over the three days as the last schools in England and Wales break up and many factories close for their summer. About 30% more people are heading to foreign climes this year than did in 1996, and 50% more than 10 years ago. But Should we be worried about taking to the air? Do we have enough airspace to cope with the huge increases in flight numbers? And what about increased stress-levels on pilots and air traffic controllers? Are we taking too many risks?
The BBC's Transport correspondent Simon Montague answered a selection of your questions in a live forum.
