My Music: Darude
Darude
Darude: One of Finland's biggest musical exports
Finnish DJ Darude swept onto the dance music scene when his single Sandstorm hit top three of the UK charts last summer, and became a worldwide club hit.

He is really a 24-year-old called Ville Virtanan - and he is going on a club tour of the UK before his single, Out of Control, is released in August.

He told BBC News Online about what he likes in his headphones.

What was the most recent album you bought?

Scooter - We Bring The Noise. I'm an ooold fan.

What was the first album/single you bought?

Vinyl - Bad Boys Blue, The Fifth. CD - KLF, The White Room.

Which current artists do you most admire?

Madonna, JS16, Paul Van Dyk, there are so many.

If you organised a festival, who would you have as headline/supporting acts?

All my Finnish counterparts - K-System, Weirdness, Alkalyne, Subliner, Label 23, KMA, Luzid...

Do you visit any music websites regularly?

www.darude.com! I visit the forum to chat with my fans. Other than that I don't seem to have enough time.

Which track by another artist do you wish you had composed/written?

James Brown's I Feel Good.

Where do you most like listening to music and why?

At home, in the bath, listening to something relaxing.

Are there any songs you can't listen to because they remind you of something you'd rather forget? Can you say why that is?

Time always fades the bad memories away.

Which song from the past 12 months do you think is likely to gain classic status and why?

Modjo - Lady. Don't know why exactly, take a look at the mainstream charts in some countries and it's still there.

What is your favourite/least favourite song (of the moment or of all time?)

My favourite is the Tiesto remix of Delirium's Silence. I'll turn the radio/TV off if there's something I don't like - I don't like dissing anyone.
