Scientists solve iceman riddle

Scientists in Austria say they have solved a 5,000 year-old mystery surrounding the death of a Bronze Age hunter whose frozen body was discovered in the Italian Alps.

The perfectly preserved body was discovered 10 years ago in a melting glacier.

It was thought he had died from cold and hunger.

But scientists now say they have discovered an arrow-head in the man's left shoulder which means he was probably the victim of an attack.

They say the Iceman, as he has become known, may have fled his attacker before bleeding to death and being entombed in ice.
