World Bank praises Pakistan's reforms
The World Bank has praised Pakistan's military-led government for making what it calls a clear break from the past and rescuing the economy from bankruptcy.
The bank said efforts to root out corruption and poverty were finally paying dividends, and it planned to give Pakistan millions of dollars in loans over the next year to help it further revive its ailing economy. President Musharraf, who seized power in a coup two years ago, made his country's economy a top priority. However, correspondents say he had been struggling to secure foreign loans and investment.
