Strike-hit Acropolis reopens to public
The Acropolis in Athens and other historic monuments and museums in Greece have re-opened to the public after striking Culture Ministry employees reached a deal with the government. The strike, which began last week, was over pay and staffing levels. Tourism officials had urged the government to take action to end the dispute as it was damaging business at the height of the summer holiday season. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
