The 2001 UK general election saw Labour returned to power with its massive majority intact.

The Liberal Democrats again increased their representation in parliament, but the Conservatives failed to gain all but a handful of seats, resulting in the swift resignation of leader William Hague.

BBC News Online's Vote 2001 site contains the news from the whole campaign, including election night and the immediate aftermath.

In addition to news, there is analysis from a range of BBC political correspondents such as Mark Mardell and Nick Robinson.

As well as reading the stories, the campaign is available in audio and video, including a special highlights package of election night.

You can also find all the results from the UK's 659 constituencies.

These are searchable in a variety of ways, allowing you to see the whole picture.

All the background information to the campaign is still available, providing a wealth of information on party policies, the main issues and the key people.
