Survivor £1m winner to be revealed
![]() The final two contestants in the Survivor reality TV show are set to discover which one will pick up the £1m ($1.4m) prize.
After spending 40 days on the island of Pulua Tiga, Charlotte Hobrough and Jackie Carey will learn on Wednesday night who is crowned winner. A jury made up of those previously voted off the island has already cast its vote for the eventual winner, as the show was recorded months ago - but the results will not be made known until the live TV special.
Executive producer and Popstars judge Nigel Lythgoe claims he is the only person who knows the winner. The two women managed to escape eviction from the island after forming a late alliance and booting off Richard Owens and Mick Easton in the final week. Sixteen castaways were originally stranded on the island in the South China Sea and week by week contestants have been voted off the island. Scheming and backstabbing became a feature of the show as contestants swapped alliances at the drop of a hat.
Airline buyer Jackie, 31, won through to the final despite knowing she was disliked by many of the contestants. By cosying up to Charlotte she ensured she would be in the final two. Police officer Charlotte, 25, looked certain to be evicted several weeks ago but she was saved when the rest of the tribe turned on model Pete. The married policewoman, who enjoyed an affair with contestant Adrian while on the island, won the final challenge to gain immunity from eviction and secure her spot in the final. Praised ITV was hoping the programme would be a ratings success but poor audience figures forced the broadcaster to reduce the number of episodes to one a week. Speaking to reporters in London on Monday, Richard and Mick both praised the way the two women had played the game. "Charlotte is a far cleverer person than I first realised and she has played the game exceptionally well," said Mick.
"In my heart of hearts, at the end of the day, either of them would have been foolhardy to take me through to the final." He added: "I don't think once throughout the programme I said I was out there for the £1m. "I desperately, desperately wanted to spend the whole 40 days and nights there."
