Kenya taxi wars continue

Reports from Kenya say rival groups have clashed for the third day running at a minibus taxi terminus on the Dandora estate in Nairobi.

Kenyan TV says several people are reported to have been injured as the two groups attacked each other with machetes and stones.

Police say they are investigating the deaths of five people following yesterday's trouble where the clashes were said to have been between the taxi operators, or matatu, and street urchins who are said to be followers of the Mungiki religious sect.

Correspondents say fights over the matatu routes are nothing new in Kenya.

Many routes into the city centre are run by cartels said to have the backing of senior police officers.
