Man hurt in drive-by shooting
West Midlands Police
West Midlands Police are investigating the shooting
A man sitting in a car with a seven-month-old baby has been shot in the face during a drive-by shooting in the West Midlands.

The 19-year-old was in his red Fiat Tipo when the gunman opened fire.

He was hit in the eye, face, shoulder and arms during the shooting in the Whitmore Reans area of Wolverhampton at about 2200 GMT on Monday.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said the injured man was lucky to survive the attack.

He had been outside a family member's house in Glentworth Gardens when he was fired at several times before the gunman drove off in a silver-coloured vehicle.

It is thought other people were with him in the car.

Stable condition

The injured man managed to drive to a nearby street and from there he was helped to hospital.

He is being treated for gunshot wounds and is said to be in a stable condition.

The attack follows three car-jackings in Birmingham over the last two weeks during which shots have been fired.

Last week a woman was struck in the face with a handgun as she tried to stop her sports car from being stolen in the Hockley area of the city.

On 13 July, a man was shot in the face when robbers stole his Audi estate in the Newtown area of Birmingham.

Three days earlier, a young couple and their baby son escaped injury after thieves shot at them in broad daylight and stole their Mercedes car in Aston.
