Swiss issue indictment against Abacha's son

The judicial authorities in Switzerland have issued an indictment against the son of the late Nigerian military ruler, General Sani Abacha, on charges of money-laundering, fraud and belonging to a criminal organisation.

The indictment against Mohamed Abacha was issued after an investigation into funds allegedly misappropriated by General Abacha and deposited in Swiss bank accounts. Mohamed Abacha is currently serving a prison term in Nigeria, so the Swiss authorities could try him in his absence or hand the case over to the Nigerian courts.
