Yugoslav parliament to approve new government

The Federal parliament in Yugoslavia has been meeting to approve the appointment of Dragisa Pesic as the new head of government.

Mr Pesic was the finance minister in the outgoing government, which collapsed about a month ago following disagreements about the extradition of the former leader, Slobodan Milosevic to the Hague international war crimes Tribunal.

The new government is a coalition of the Serbian alliance and three Montenegrin parties - and for the first time the Montenegrins will have parity in the allocation of ministerial posts.
