Manipur mobs burn politicians' houses
Police in the north-eastern Indian state of Manipur say angry mobs have burnt down the houses of three senior politicians in protest at the Delhi government's decision to broaden a ceasefire with Naga separatist rebels.

A spokesman said the houses in the capital, Imphal, were destroyed as police battled with the mobs to bring the situation under control.

He said a curfew put in place last week had now been relaxed, but the situation remained tense.

The truce has triggered violent protests over fears that parts of Manipur and other neighbouring states may be hived off to create a greater Nagaland.

Meanwhile, thousands of Nagas have held rallies in support of the ceasefire.
