Prince views Final Fantasy premiere
Weather presenter Sian Lloyd meets Prince Charles
Prince Charles was guest at the premiere of Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, the world's first ever computer-generated image film.
The gala screening of the film at the new UGC cinema in Cardiff was a fund raiser for the Prince's Trust Cymru.
It is set in the year 2065 and tells the story of a group of people who must join forces to combat an enemy threatening to exterminate all life on Earth. The actorless film made it into the US Top Ten, but has been overshadowed this summer by the blockbuster Jurassic Park III. The Playstation game which inspired Final Fantasy is now into its 10th version and has sold 33m copies worldwide. Queues of gaming fans form in the streets of Tokyo each time a new version of the game is launched.
Tom Davies, director of the Trust, said: "We are delighted that His Royal Highness is supporting this fundraising event. "All of the proceeds from the evening will go directly towards supporting thousands of young people in Wales overcome barriers in order to reach their full potential." Also at the premiere were government minister and Cardiff South and Penarth MP Alun Michael and Welsh Assembly Presiding Officer Lord Elis-Thomas. Assembly First Minister Rhodri Morgan was also present as were Assembly cabinet ministers Jane Davidson and Jenny Randerson. A People's Premiere took place simultaneously and both screenings raised funds for the Prince's Trust Cymru. |
