A woman accused of stealing letters from the luxury apartment building of David and Victoria Beckham has had her case adjourned for about two weeks.

Chinyela Obue, 37, was due to appear before Macclesfield Magistrates charged with burglary after allegedly breaking into the communal hallway of the building in Alderley Edge, Cheshire.

Ms Obue allegedly took a taxi to the exclusive village from her home city of Edinburgh in the early hours of Sunday 1 July.

She also faces a charge of obtaining services by deception relating to the cab fare.

Brother's Brian rated top holiday pal

Big Brother contestant Brian has come out top of a survey of the person most people would like to take on holiday.

Air steward Brian, who is one of the four finalists on the reality game show, was rated highly in four categories.

But pop star Geri Halliwell was rated as one of the least favourable choices for ideal travel companion.

Chart act S Club 7 were seen as an excellent choice to take away on a partying holiday to Ibiza.

Bonham Carter found ape role 'easy'

British actress Helena Bonham Carter was the centre of attention at a New York screening of the new version of the cult film Planet of the Apes.

The 35-year-old actress, who made her name with films such as Room With a View, plays chimpanzee activist Ari in the $100m (£70.4m) version of the film.

She said learning to walk like an ape was easy - just forget toilet training.

"I found it most helpful to picture a full diaper, and you had to make sure you weren't going to spill it."

Harrison Ford's love of the air

Harrison Ford has spoken eloquently of his love of flying at a fundraising gala for the Museum of Flight in Seattle.

The event was part of an effort to raise $3m for children's projects at the museum.

Ford, who flew his own plane into Seattle, said he was happy to help "engage kids in the romance and the mystery and the adventure of flying - I know what it means".

Earlier this month, Ford piloted his own helicopter to pick up a 13-year-old boy who had been lost overnight in a forest in north west Wyoming.

He is a part-time resident of Jackson, Wyoming.

Director Von Trier drops Kidman

Award-winning director Lars von Trier has called off negotiations with Nicole Kidman to be the lead in his new film.

A contract for her to star in Dogville was ready to sign last month.

But Kidman's failure to sign prompted the film's producer to order a recasting for the picture.

The Australian actress has given no reason for failing to secure her role.

Trier won last year's Palme D'Or for his epic Dancer In The Dark.
