Scanty dress upsets devout Israeli servicemen

The Israeli army is thinking of banning female soldiers from wearing tee-shirts and other garments which could be considered immodest while on military bases.

It follows complaints from devout Jewish servicemen about skimpy clothing.

The army's chief chaplain said religious soldiers found it disturbing to see female colleagues dressed inappropriately after working hours.

Most Israeli women soldiers are in their late teens. They have to spend two years in the army once they reach the age of 18 - men serve three years.
