Indian stock-brokers on strike
Trading on Indian stock exchanges has fallen to a fraction of normal levels due to a strike by stock-brokers.
They are protesting against new rules introduced without consultation at the beginning of this month which they say have hurt business. The brokers object in particular to the abolition of a practice known as a carry-forward facility under which investors were allowed to buy shares on credit.
