Tripura bomb kills one

Police in the eastern Indian state of Tripura say one tribal person was killed and 15 others wounded when a bomb exploded in the state capital, Agartala.

Police say they suspect it was the work of a Bengali militant organisation, the United Bengal Liberation Front, which is involved in a conflict with tribal rebel groups active in the area.

A BBC correspondent in Agartala says this was the first bombing incident in the city, where Bengali settlers outnumber indigenous tribal people.
