Hamas has accused Israel of carrying out an assassination after one of its members was killed in a car explosion. Israeli tanks have continued to shell parts of the city of Hebron in response to several attacks on Jewish settlers. The violence in the region included some of the fiercest gun battles in the West Bank since the US-brokered a truce exactly one month ago. The BBC's Barbara Plett reports:
