Two hurt in Bradford restaurant attack

The incidents come just days after rioting

Two people have been injured after an Asian restaurant in Bradford was attacked, according to West Yorkshire police.

A woman suffered facial injuries and a man sustained minor head and arm injuries when youths smashed windows at the Sharma Restaurant in Bingley at 2330BST on Thursday.

Two white men, aged 21 and 26, have been arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage.

A police spokesman said one had been in possession of an offensive weapon,

In a separate incident, an Asian 17-year-old has been arrested following criminal damage to a restaurant in the Girlington area of the city.

Chief Superintendent Simon Willsher said: "Although these were isolated incidents it was fortunate we were not dealing with far more serious injuries to members of the public.

"We will simply not tolerate this type of violence in our community and we are determined to track down those responsible.

"We are looking to continued support from the community in our efforts to return to normality on the streets of Bradford."

The incidents come just days after some of the worst rioting Britain has seen in 20 years.

More than 200 police officers were injured, properties were firebombed and businesses looted in three successive nights of rioting in Bradford.

They caused an estimated £25m damage.
