North Korea honours Vietnam war dead

The second-most-senior leader in North Korea, Kim Yong-nam, has paid his respects to his country's servicemen who died during the Vietnam War.

Mr Kim's visit to a cemetery near Hanoi comes a week after North Korea admitted for the first time that members of its military had taken part in the conflict.

Hundreds of North Korean fighter pilots are thought to have flown missions against the American and South Vietnamese military during the war.

One of the aims of Mr Kim's visit to Vietnam is to get food aid as North Korea is facing another year of severe food shortages.

Vietnam is one of the world's largest rice producers.
