Richard and Judy are defecting to Channel Four

After 13 years fronting ITV's This Morning, Richard Madeley and Judy Finnegan are going to Channel Four to present a chat show.

Their last appearance on This Morning featured a Family Fortunes-style quiz, numerous special guests and a montage of their favourite moments.

"No send-off was going to be great enough for them but their This Morning reign ended as it began with technical hitches and guests stealing the show," wrote BBC News Online's Keily Oakes.

But what did you think? Was the show a fitting send-off? Can anyone really replace Richard and Judy?

I was saddened by the news. On the days you were ill, on the days you took sickies, on the days you were on holiday, you could always rely on Richard and Judy.

Richard and Judy were often my first contact with the outside world when I got up. They gave me the sunny outlook I needed to get me through many a day of existential dread and anomie. For this I thank them. I only hope whoever steps up next has the same humour and appreciation of the cosmic joke that they so effortlessly showed (Well Richard anyhow). Unfortunately I have a job now so I will probably never know.

No one can replace R&J! I've heard that Dale Winton is going to be the new host, this can't be true! I'm sure Mr Winton is a nice enough fellow, but can you imagine sharing your inner most feelings with him? Richard is such a sensitive guy, and Judy is like your close friend - it made people feel as if they were part of the family. Sure, sometimes the show was a bit on the sappy side, but they really had the ability to help people because they are 'us'. That's something so special, ITV will have a job replacing them.

Should we replace them? Why? It's rubbish TV. The idea that TV programmes can be spread around the clock, virtually for 24 hours, and still be of a decent quality is a nonsense, hence the proliferation of this type of garbage. Patronising, ignorant, low-brow, non-educational, non-entertaining. Shows like theirs are just to fill air time as cheaply as possible. Grow up.

I hope that no one replaces Richard and Judy.

Daytime TV is utter drivel and should be replaced by something more stimulating and entertaining. Luckily I only watch daytime TV when I am ill, and often I switch it off because it makes me feel worse.

It's a sure bet I won't be tuning in to their new show.

I work at home and, once upon a time, This Morning was a serious distraction. It was classy and fun, with a decent budget. But, over recent years, it has increasingly become downmarket and cheap.

Too reliant on soaps, tacky stunts and patronising premium rate phone quizzes.

Today was the first time I had watched it in a while and I was shocked at how bad it was.

It is no wonder ITV is doing so badly at the moment.

Frankly, presenters of the calibre of Richard and Judy deserve something better.

It was a really good last show, but sad. I am sure it will be really difficult to replace Judy and Richard as they are a really super couple. I have watched the show for the last few years. I have always switched on to the Judy and Richard programme with no thought to looking at any other programme in the morning if I have had a day off or been ill, but now I am not so sure that I will do that. I have already sent a message to them. I will really miss them and hope that their new venture will be as successful as This Morning.

Richard & Judy defected to Channel 4 when they insisted on working 4 days a week and having school holidays off on This Morning.

When Fern Britton and John Leslie started, I made sure that I tuned in every Friday as they have a fantastic chemistry on-screen.

If the team from 'Live-talk' could be brought in then I would make sure I tune in every day.
