	In 1993, Beijing narrowly lost out to Sydney in the voting to stage the Summer Games of 2000. Now the city is spending millions of dollars to get the Games of 2008. Human rights has been its Achilles heel, but China insists politics should not be allowed to get in the way of its bid to host the world's greatest sporting event.
