Lebanon calls for Arab support
The Lebanese President, Emile Lahoud, has called on Arab states to support it in its resistance against Israel. In an interview, he said the support from Arab countries would guarantee conditions for pursuing the resistance in Lebanon. The conflict between Lebanon and Israel has heated up recently over border issues. Lebanon has also urged Arab states to fund the rebuilding of south Lebanon, which Israel withdrew from in May last year, after two decades of occupation. The Lebanese President starts a two-day visit to Tunisia today. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
