Man dies after petrol fire
The man's house in Colley Avenue, Low Hill, Wolverhampton
Police are treating the incident as a "domestic"
A man who was found engulfed in flames at his home in Wolverhampton has died in hospital.

Mick Dodd is believed to have deliberately doused himself and his estranged wife with petrol at their house in Colley Avenue, Low Hill, on Monday.

Three children were also in the house at the time but escaped unhurt.

Mr Dodd suffered 95% burns to his body while his wife Jackie, 30, suffered 45% burns.

She is still in a critical condition in Birmingham's Selly Oak Hospital.

Two neighbours who tried to help the couple were also burned.

Robert Kellow, who lives opposite the house, saw the woman in flames in her front garden pleading for help.

Domestic incident

He said: "The young lady came across the driveway in a ball of flames.

"I grabbed hold of her and screamed at her to get on the floor and rolled her over."

Another neighbour gave him a wet blanket to put out the flames.

"I got injured when I tried to douse the fire out."

Mr Kellow also went inside the house to see if anyone else was hurt but the room was full of smoke.

He ran round the back where he saw the man on fire and tried to help him.

West Midlands Police say they are treating it as a domestic incident.

Inspector Clive Isherwood said: "We are not looking for anyone else but we would urge the public to help provide information prior to the fire.

"As you can imagine, it is like trying to piece together a jigsaw puzzle."

Anyone with any information can contact the police at Wednesfield, Wolverhampton on 01902 649020.
