Thousands protest at Kashmir rape
Nearly 2,000 people have taken part in a demonstration in Indian-administered Kashmir to protest at the alleged rape on Tuesday night of two local women by Indian security personnel.
The demonstration took place in the town of Sopore, about 50 km from Srinagar. Shops were closed in the town - but a senior police officer told the BBC that the situation was now under control. The two women were admitted to a nearby hospital but it has not yet been ascertained whether they were raped. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
