Climber injured in cliff fall
Demo Route
The Demo Route features a challenging overhang
A climber from London has suffered serious injuries after falling 50ft down a cliff near Land's End.

It is thought he dropped 25ft, bounced on a ledge and then fell the same distance again on to a granite slab.

The Land's End cliff rescue team went to the aid of the 44-year-old man on Tuesday evening.

A lifeboat stood by a short distance offshore.

The climber was flown to the Royal Cornwall Hospital near Truro in a Royal Navy helicopter.

He is believed to have been tackling the challenging Demo Route at Sennen Cove and apparently had a problem with his equipment.

The route is graded hard-severe and features an overhang known as "the nose".

The man suffered broken bones and head injuries, but his condition is not thought to be life-threatening.
