Mozambique dam funding doubt
The African Development Bank has denied it has any plans in the pipeline to fund a proposed dam to control flood waters, 70 km west of the capital, Maputo. Just over a week ago, the Mozambique Government was reported to have said the dam was expected to cost three-hundred-and-fifty-million dollars, and was to be funded by the ADB. More than 700 people died last year in some of the country's worst flooding. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
