Brazil trade union leader killed

Gumen in northern Brazil have shot dead a trade union leader who was closely involved in the campaign by the landless movement.

The leader, Jose Pinheiro, his wife and 15-year-old son were killed at their home in the northern state of Para.

Officials are investigating whether the shooting is linked to a dispute between Mr Pinheiro and a local landowner over the recent occupation of his farmland.
