Iraq resumes oil supply
Iraq has started pumping oil again to the Gulf and Mediterranean. The move comes a day after Iraq and the United Nations agreed to extend by five months the programme which allows Iraq to use the revenue from oil exports to buy food, medicines and other essentials. Iraq cut off oil delivery to protest against a UN decision to renew the oil-for-food programme for a month rather than the usual six months. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
