Nagorno-Karabakh negotiators in Baku

President Aliyev of Azerbaijan has warned of the risk of renewed fighting over the disputed enclave of Nagorno-Karabakh, if negotiations to resolve the problem drag on much longer.

President Aliyev issued the warning during talks with negotiators from the Minsk group of countries, who've been visiting the region this week, in the latest attempt to settle the 13-year-old dispute between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The negotiators - from the United States, Russia and France - had earlier also warned of the risk of a resumption in fighting, and had urged all sides to avoid making inflammatory statements.

The peace process has stalled, since a meeting in Florida in April between Mr Aliyev, and President Kocharian of Armenia, raised hopes of a breakthrough.

Negotiations due to be held in Geneva last month were cancelled due to lack of progress.

Nagorno Karabakh is an enclave in Azerbaijan populated largely by Armenians.
